Still here!

A couple fabulous things have kept me from posting lately.

One, I’ve worked on a consulting gig for some clients producing a Western, which I’ll address in a different post.

Two, we’ve attracted our first investor for Lost in Sunshine.  Yay!

With our first commitment of equity, we’ve had to fully set in motion all the legal and financial structures to accommodate moving forward with it: having our fabu attorney, Deena, draw up our Private Placement Memorandum, Subscription Agreement, and Company Agreement for our LLC, applying for our EIN number, hiring our official accountant, setting up our business banking account, etc.

In other news, we’ve determined that shooting exteriors as planned in December in Texas is NOT something we’re going to execute.  After deeper discussions with our Art Director, Cinematographer, and Line Producer, we became very concerned that the lighting in our shots from December would be problematic to match up to footage shot during our principal photography shoot, which will take place in April.   We also looked at the costs of a stand-alone, two-day shoot versus the economies of scale we’ll aim for in our aggregate 25-day shoot.

So, Christmas-time in the original script may very well become Easter-time now.  Which made, Jentri, our writer-director, at first want to throw up.  :)   But, after her initial gag reflex passed, she’s totally on board with modifying the script to accommodate tighter logistics for the shoot.  Jentri rocks.

Don’t be afraid of change. Form a vision.  Set your sights.  Start on your way.  But, don’t be afraid to adjust your path as you gather new information.

I’ll be off to Austin in mid-November to meet with our terrific Department Heads to resolve whether to shoot on Super16mm or on the Red hi-def camera.  I’ll also be spending quality time with our line producer, Michele, diving into the line items of our budget, to nip and tuck everywhere we can.

Feeling terrific momentum and loving it!
