This summer, I came across the text of this speech to incoming Freshmen at the Boston Conservatory of Music by Karl Paulnack, the head of the Music Department, and was moved by it. He’s speaking to musicians, but his words and insights speak to all artists, I feel. Fortunately, another blogger has secured permission to post it publicly.
