BTW – I had a chat today with an unnamed acquisitions guy with whom I’ve been playing phone tag for three weeks. He phoned this afternoon, awakening me and my toddler, both, from naps on the couch. Nice. You can imagine how “present” I felt for this unexpected phone call. And, my toddler was demanding a cheese stick in the background.
Note to self: in similar situations, Lorie, don’t talk. Just don’t start. Stall. Let the other party talk first. Reassemble your brain signals before speaking.
It wasn’t a bad phone call; it was just a one-time phone call. I’ve been kicking myself all afternoon, feeling like I didn’t handle the connection as best I could.
Sigh. Move on. Lots of phone calls to make and take tomorrow. And, the toddler will be at daycare.
